Apple has updated the 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip
Hot off the release of the iPhone Duo and a big update to the iPad Mini, Apple is looking to keep its momentum going by refreshing the 14-inch MacBook Pro with a faster M6 chip. Thanks to its new processor, Apple says the latest 14-inch MacBook Pro delivers 30 percent faster graphics compared to an M5-equipped model, along with a 25 percent boost to AI workloads. Other improvements include support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 while still offering strong battery life with a runtime of up to 24 hours on a single charge. The M6 chip inside the updated MacBook Pro features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core, plus a dual 16-core Neural Engine and faster unified memory. In addition to general performance increases, Apple claims the M6's Neural Engine is 1.9x faster than before while "dramatically" accelerating AI tasks such as image generation, super resolution and upscaling.

Apple Just Upgraded the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro with Its New M5 Chip
The hardware largely remains the same, but performance gets a boost. All products featured on WIRED are independently selected by our editors. Without much fanfare, Apple has unveiled three new flagship products today via a press release--no special event, no pre-recorded show. That might be because the new iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro don't change the mold--they're identical to their predecessors--but internally, they're debuting Apple's highly anticipated M5 chip.
Apple's MacBook Pros get an M4 upgrade, including the new M4 Max chip
Not that it's a huge surprise after Apple's week of M4 upgrades -- first with the 24-inch iMac, then the adorable new Mac mini -- but today the company is also bringing its M4 chips to the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. And, in addition to the base M4 chip and the M4 Pro, they can also be configured with the newly announced M4 Max. Still, the internal upgrades should be compelling for anyone with an M1 MacBook Pro or an older Intel model. Just like with the M4 iMac and Mac mini, Apple is also making 16GB of RAM the default for the 1,599 14-inch MacBook Pro (fixing one of our biggest issues with that model). You can thank Apple Intelligence for that memory bump, even if you don't give a lick about AI.
